Tranquilizer Dart
I have long wondered if these might be a good idea in the ER instead of the two imperfect options we currently use for involuntary sedation:
1) The long drawn-out negotiation followed (sometimes) by grudging acceptance of sedative
OR
2) The takedown followed by physical restraints and surprise manual injection of sedative into whatever meaty body part is available
If the patient is going to get a shot against his will, then a tranquilizer gun might be safer for everyone involved.
But would it work?
I wish the video was just a little bit longer....

Oh, the joy. This will definitely help me get through the monotony of another day at work.
Somewhere in heaven Darwin is giggling.
Extreme laughter ensued after that one.
That is one more reason why I am always a pleasant patient, you never know when the nurse is going to pull out one of those (and in this case that nurse could be my mother lol)
I'm still waiting for the FDA to approve the fentanyl, or whatever, gas used in Beslan. No negotiating, no wrestling, just keep a BVM very handy.
Ok, so out of boredom I decided to watch the tranq. dart video again. Then I followed some of the links at the end of the video.
There is a video called "BME Pain Olympics" -- ever hear of this? Seriously. The most awful thing I have ever seen. Don't even do it.
Summary: Genitals + Hatchet
God.
