Oooo... wouldn't that be cool. I can't wait for her to come to my state, but I bet we're too red to waste a lot of time/money campaigning here.

Hey! There are plenty of intelligent (blog reading) people who live in Wasilla. If you look hard enough you might find all three of them. Just kidding... I was born and raised there and though I moved away when I went to college 7 years ago I still consider Wasilla to be my home town. I still have family there as well.

Looking at the population census for wasilla, it's about a 1 in 9000 chance it was her. Not bad odds.

Did anyone else feel like Sarah Palin sidestepped just about every question of direct substance last night?

OK, well, I'm simply trying to be objective here. I definitely believe she's charismatic and certainly nice and conservative but at the same time a little bit too much like a high school debate student who has relative command of vocabulary but a general inability to offer genuine rebuttal. What bothers me about politics are when people choose to lack objectivity and base important decision solely on rhetoric and bipartisanship. I think, for the most part, this behavior is less calculated and more based out of response to fear.

I doubt anyone (other than maybe 'S') is still checking this thread, but here's an attack on Palin from a conservative:

It's nice mainstream conservatives are finally realizing the problem. What do you think, Scalpel? Still think she's up to the task? This is like making your top surgical intern assistant director of neurosurgery. It's not that she isn't the best in her tier of governance, it's just her tier doesn't stack up to the vice presidency.

Can't republicans acknowledge when they've made a mistake - even if at their political expense?

Obama made mistakes, I can admit that. Obama should have swallowed his pride and put Clinton on the ticket. Or he should have at least made a better, bolder pick for VP than Biden. His pick of Biden was old school party politics on a ticket allegedly all about change. I can admit that - and this pick will cost him politically. Had he gone with Clinton this thing would be such a lock -- and if it was Clinton picking Obama for VP it would have been even more of a lock. Dem's have made serious, strategic mistakes too.

I think you can't argue that Governor Palin isn't up to the task without admitting that Senator Obama isn't up to the task.

Obama would have been a relatively reasonable VP choice for the liberals; it's really a pity they blew their load prematurely.
