Quote of the Day

Regarding the Sarah Palin pick for VP, some on the left are exercising extremely poor judgment by questioning her experience.

"Do we really need to put another wildly inexperienced, purely political choice into the White House," they ask?

No, we don't. We could elect McCain.

I guess the point is that is what the GOP is constantly harping on Obama about. Lack of experience. I mean, I never even heard her name before. The other sad fact is that she is more likely to have to ascend to the presidency than Biden would - I mean, McCain is no spring chicken. I think I know why they really did it. It's that she is a she. Can't have TWO old white guys running against a wildly popular minority that is promising change.

People do not think. They try to go for the cheap shot on an opponent, but never consider how their comments might reflect on their side.

There's a big difference between inexperience in a VP and inexperience in a Commander in Chief.

Agreed CP, however, she is a heartbeat away from being POTUS. IMHO, no one on the mainstream ticket is qualified to be POTUS.

The VP pick says more about the candidate at the top of the ticket. McCain has been saying for months that you need experience to be qualified for the job of CiC. Then he picked someone manifestly inexperienced to be VP. So either he changed his mind in a flip-flop of biblical proportions, or he was lying all along because it was a convenient line of attack. I suspect the latter.

I'm actually OK with Palin. Mind you, I think she's a bad choice, but not because of the inexperience thing. It's because it's such a transparent sop to the far right (Dan Quayle in a skirt, only smarter) and a cynical choice of a female to play for the "Hillary" voters that I think it will reflect poorly on McCain.

And, as a Republican, I see she comes in with her own pre-packaged abuse of power scandal. Nice. Don't they vet VPs on the right? Sheesh.

Palin:
A. Pro-life EVEN in cases where a father rapes his daughter Strike one.
B. Wants creationism taught in public schools - strike two
C. Votes pretty much against any environmental issues that threaten oil drilling in her state - including declaring the Polar Bear endangered. (although she claims to be a hunter and a fisher(wo)man.)
Strike three
D. Until she got the governership a year and a half ago, she was the mayor of a suburb town of 9000.That is the extent of her experience. You're out.
Hmmm - I don't think I could get past these things even if she lowered my taxes to zero.

Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama, Biden and McCain combined. When you investigate the "troopergate" scandal, she comes out looking even better. Get over it guys, she will be the next VPUSA, and the first woman to be elected to that office. I will also predict that she will be the first woman elected to the office of POTUS.

A) I never heard that specific position reported, not to say it isn't true. The abortion issue one way or the other really doesn't matter much to me anyway, except that I'd like to see fewer of them in general and none past the first trimester ever.
B) That isn't true. She said she wouldn't advocate the addition of creationism to the curriculum, but that healthy debate is important in the classroom and she wouldn't forbid such discussions.
C) Governors don't vote....they make decisions. Unlike Obama, who voted "present" on many of the tough issues. Polar bears in Alaska really isn't an issue that concerns me either.
D) Her experience is greater that Obama's. As I said, you really don't want to go there.

I LOVE McCain's choice and am really excited about Governor Palin. I'd be excited about Palin if she were a man simply because of her beliefs and policies but I'm psyched because she also happens to be a woman.

As for this business that some folks on the left are bringing up - that McCain is likely to die so his choice for VP is somehow more important. . .

Well, yes, that could happen. But it's funny that the left is concerned about this remote possibility and yet they are completely comfortable with the the certainty of having a president with absolutely NO executive experience should Obama become president.

Strange.

A: Absolutely not; she appears to support aborting the father in this situation, which is as it should be.
B: Cite?
C: And?
D: Mayor then governor, both decision making posts. When's the last time Obama made an important decision all by himself?

"healthy debate" is just code for teaching creationism and bring prayer back into school.

re: experiance

No experience prepares one to be president. Both McCain and Obama are qualified based on the only criteria that matters - the US Constitution. You can argue that you don't like their positions or how they manage their campaigns but "no experience" is a cheap cop out. Personally I've been impressed by Obama has been managing his campaign.

Touche'!

Anyone who still wants to vote Obama ought to first imagine the inauguration ceremony with Rev. Wright swearing him in to uphold and defend these GODDAMNED United States of America.

Cha. NObama. Not now, not ever. THAT much change we do NOT need.
