Actually, he is most attractive. Did you see any of his interviews? He is a very genuine and humble guy. The tender looks he gave his mom were enough to melt the heart of any woman.
Beauty on the inside is sooooo much better than outward beauty, which is more vulnerable to ruin.
for a second i thought this was a photoshop of phelps wearing a halter top! c'mon, it does look like a nice midriff-showing halter with gold fringe at first glance....

He looks good enough to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated... and likely the Wheaties box. Good for him! Look at all that beautiful hardware he's bringing home to the USA. I'm Canadian and I am so impressed by, and pleased for him.
His family must be so proud.

I can't understand anyone saying he is not good looking; only a very superficial person could say that. Good looks are not just skin deep and I think he looks great.
And I am not even American.

Phelps is hot as hades! I'd take him any day over a whole host of guys because he's talented, hard-working, and humble.
It's an amazing combination.
I am sure he could afford the orthodontic jaw work that he needs now.
Saying he is unattractive is not saying he is an ugly person. He is beautiful for all of the reasons everyone listed but I'm sorry, he is not what I would call good looking either.
And it does look like some halter top or backless evening gown when you first open the blog because of the way my monitor crops the picture. At first I thought this was going to be some sort of spoof!

It's hard for me to see why anyone would call him unattractive. Perhaps what I have learned about him has warped my "vision."
I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. For me genuine beauty is on the inside of a person. It is my observation that not many people who think outward appearances are really important have much of that genuine beauty. The Venn diagram is not totally non-intersecting, but awfully darn close.
he reminds me soo much of my son, by his looks and by the way he talks!! everytime I look at him I see my son!! and in that case..... he is one good looking guy!!! LOL and he is just another young man on his way to become the man his mother made him out to be!!!
Those medals are pretty good-looking.
