Quote of the Night - Memorial Weekend Edition

An agitated psychotic man had sought care at the VA hospital before coming to our facility, but they wouldn't see him because he didn't have a DD 214 form.

"Are you a veteran?" I asked.

"I'm a veteran of the intergalactic war, man."

"Oh. Thanks for your service."

Monkeygirl, everyone knows that Captain Kirk and United Federation of Planets won the intergalactic war. They formed an alliance with the Jedi, and kicked the evil Galactic empire's butt.

We owe the intergalactic veterans so much, and yet, we do so little!

How very, very depressing...the Intergalactic War got fought and won and I was paying attention to Bush's Iraq silliness. Don't I feel lame.

I would have asked for his rank and serial number.

(Actually, when I was working as a psych RN once, I asked a guy who claimed he had arrived in a space ship for his "car keys"--- and he yelled at me viciously asking if I was "crazy". Good way to tell who's faking...)

Hee. I'm surprised he didn't produce a DID214 (Department of Intergalactic Defense).

He could've put "parthian raider" down instead of sharpshooter.
